Tryout Information

When: 3/23/25

Where: Windsor High School

Information:

Sessions will be led by CBC coaches and will consist of some or all of the following:

Skill work (dribbling, passing, defensive footwork, & shooting)
Drills that represent game play (combing skills, communicating, spacing and movement)
Small sided game play

In preparation for the day:

Players should be listed on the interest form (players can show up day-of, but it helps us to be organized if players are listed on the interest form.)
All players should bring a ball. The ball should have their name or initials clearly labeled and it should represent the size of ball that the player would use in a game. WE WILL NOT HAVE BALLS TO LOAN OUT. Failure to bring a ball would mean missing out on participating in drills.
All players should bring a water bottle or sports drink
If players require knee, wrist, elbow, ankle braces (etc.) and or inhalers, players should make sure they arrive with these aides.
Note: Windsor High School’s street address is on Ascutney St. However, to enter the gym, enter the school on State St. at the Windsor School sign. Players should enter the gym through the doors under the walking bridge.
Player sessions are closed to parents, families, friends, and boyfriends/girlfriends. Parents/families are welcome to walk their player in for registration, but should plan to leave the gym after. This includes the walkway/track above the gym.
Players should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their scheduled session to register/check in.
We typically do not take 3rd graders. However, exceptions have been made in the past. But 3rd grade players must be able to shoot on a 10ft rim. Other skills will also be assessed. Tournaments we attend do not have lower hoops and there are limited amounts of 4th grade teams. So typically even 4th graders are playing in a 5th grade bracket.

March 23rd Schedule

8:30 - 9:40 AM: Boys currently in 4th & 5th grades

9:45 - 10:55 AM: Girls currently in 4th & 5th grades

11:00 - 12:10 PM: Boys currently in 6th & 7th grades

12:15 - 1:25 PM: Girls currently in 6th & 7th grades

1:30 - 2:40 PM: Boys currently in 8th & 9th grades

2:45 - 3:55 PM: Girls currently in 8th & 9th grades

Players in grades 10th and above will not have a tryout session. We will review the interest form and high school game film or reach out if we are unfamiliar with your player.

After tryouts, the board and coaches will review the numbers of players and player skills to form teams. While we have not made many cuts in the past few years, player cuts are always a possibility based on coaches available, competitive makeup of teams, and other variables. We aim to comprise our teams of players within the same grade group. However, after assessments, we may roster players above or below their grade group on a team which they can be competitive.

Season schedules are still being finalized. We aim to complete these prior to March 23rd and will communicate more on this, registration fees, uniforms and more.

Season Information

If selected for a team, registration for 2025 is $300 per player. There is a family multi-player discount at $25 off each player in the same family.

After tryouts on 3/23, rosters will be announced and players will have a week to accept their roster spot. If accepting a roster spot, they will also need to order uniforms within this time period. CBC will use new uniforms in 2025. So even if you purchased a uniform in a prior season, you will need to purchase a new one. For 2025, numbers will be assigned to avoid any duplication. When roster spots are announced, each player will have a number listed. They will need to use that number when ordering uniforms.

5/31-6/1 - Maine Hoops Run for the Rings - Saco/Portland, ME

6/14-6/15 - CT Northstars Boys & Girls Summer Blast - Canton (Near Hartford), CT
